I am requesting an Apple iPad and Apple TV for my classroom. The iPad will be used to help promote online reading of Ebooks (using apps like Libby and Hoopla). It will also be used to digitally manage our classroom library. My goal is to get as many books into my students hands as possible. It would also make teaching easier. I like to move around the room as I teach and it would be much easier to carry an iPad versus a laptop around. There are also a number of students that could use it for a de-escalation tool by listening to calming music or by watching videos to calm anxiety. I like the quote by John Dewey that states, "If we teach today's students as we taught yesterday's, we rob them of tomorrow." We have to be able to integrate more technology into the way we teach to keep today's students engaged. Technology doesn't replace a good teacher, but it helps enhance the learning environment.
