Putting our phones away and focusing on group collaboration and interactions for freshmen has been difficult after the remote year and pandemic check out. I am hoping to get kids to work in groups, have both independent time and small group time to answer questions and build confidence before taking answers and ideas to the larger group. These items will help bring the timid freshmen out from behind their screens to a more collaborative community setting with confidence! I will be using the maps and white boards to do assignments where students gain confidence with small groups, and then independently as they answer questions and interact with tangible items instead of screens. The whiteboards will be awesome for so many things. The clear plastic sheets will continue the collaborative work with maps they can write on and erase. I can't wait to change the dynamic halfway through this tough year.
