Teenagers are curious. Though they protest, they WANT to learn. Oftentimes, kids ask me to explain more about different events, topics, or historical figures. Kids have even asked me to recommend books to them before. I've always wanted to have resources to give these curious kids so that they can further their learning. This class library is based around historical topics that we talk about in class: the American Revolution, Civil War, Trail of Tears, Civil Rights, and many others. I want ALL my students to feel like they can enjoy reading. I have a broad range of learners - ranging from a 2nd-grade reading level to a college level, so I tried to include some books that are higher level and some that are picture books/graphic novels. I also tried to include books that were about many different racial and ethnic groups and their contributions to history so that my minority students can look at and pull books from my library that show their ancestors as strong, capable people.
