Flexible seating will help my students engage in their learning by giving them a place to sit that is beyond traditional classroom chairs. Many of my students have ADHD and are on the autism spectrum, so they need to constantly move around. Traditional classroom chairs make it hard for my students to focus, and giving them a choice of where they sit will motivate them to work harder. When they are comfortable, they are more willing to listen and focus on their work. Giving students choices in how they receive their education accelerates and enhances their learning. My students are far more likely to listen when they feel listened to. They may have a hard time self-advocating by communicating their needs in a healthy and productive way. By showing them that I support their needs, they will feel safer and validated. Fidget toys will also help relieve stress and calm excited minds. My students are amazing and deserve every possible assistance they can get!
