My students have been though enough trying to develop their academic English, but COVID has thrown them yet another obstacle to overcome. They need a break from the monotony of learning from a screen in a language that they're still trying to grasp. A comfortable reading corner and exciting classroom will help these multilingual learners see reading, writing, speaking and listening in English as a joy, not a chore. With the rug and comfortable seating next to a functional shelf, students will have quick access to the materials as they read in a more authentic setting. They'll have access to diverse texts that reflect more some of their own experiences. When not reading, they'll continue their learning through the games and activities offered in the Teachers Pay Teachers store and the instructional books. These multilingual learners deserve the chance to see that reading can be enjoyed, especially when it's in a language other than their native one.
