In our small speech room, we see more than 100 students in a week for individual one-on-one sessions. There are three to four speech professionals working in the small room at a time. This is extremely distracting for our speech students as they can see and hear everything the student in the next table over is doing. The dividers will make a huge difference in their learning as they will be able to focus on their communication partner along with the individualized lesson plan each therapist has planned for them. The other chosen materials will aid in this lesson planning process. Young children learn much better when it feels more like play. Learning vocabulary is way more fun when you get to pull little objects out of a mystery box. Learning the different sounds in words is way more fun if you get to unlock locks and match little objects to pictures. The skills they learn will carry over into their everyday lives as they communicate more effectively with those around them, including those at home.
