Can my students see what I am presenting, hear what I am presenting and is it unambiguous? Those are the three questions I always ask before presenting new content to students. This project has the potential to help with all three questions.
Television monitors that are large enough and can connect to the internet are a fantastic resource to present content to students anywhere in a classroom.
Digital text is far easier for students to read than handwritten text. Additionally, since the TV can be mounted higher than I can reach on an old fashion whiteboard, I don't have to worry about students looking around other students to see what is being presented.
Since the TV in the project has internet capability, I can air any content through my school computer directly to the TV (without cords), such as power points or scientific demonstrations I perform at the front of the classroom. Additionally, I can easily choose engaging content from the internet suitable for a particular lesson and display it on the TV, which also has sufficient volume to fill the classroom with sound.
All said, this project will significantly help engage my students in a way that is far less expensive and easier to see than the traditional projectors used in classrooms today.
