My project will revolve around STEM curriculum relating to weather phenomenon as well as a few other science curriculum. The weather station will be used to track and monitor weather each day while we look for patterns and make predictions. Patterns will be logged in a journal and the data will be used to describe weather, climate, seasons, ecosystems and other phenomena. The tank, heat lamp, and fog machine will be used to build a model that can demonstrate wind patterns and how they affect weather. The customizable interior of the tank with be used to demonstrate how changes in terrain can affect wind patterns. Students will be able to make predictions and test their hypotheses by placing mountains, buildings (created using 3D printer) around the tank and seeing the wind (fog) move throughout the tank from cold to warm areas. This will also deepen understanding on movement of air masses, warm and cold fronts, and can also be used to teach the water cycle by evaporating water and making it rain over our tank city. Lastly, these materials will be reused to enhance my students understanding of the world around them for years to come.
