Each year, as my 5th grade special education student's move on to the next chapter in their lives, from elementary school to middle school, I never feel like I give them enough to remember their time in elementary school. This year, I've decided that is going to change. For many of these kids, I have spent at least 3 years working with them and watching them grow into amazing little humans. I would like to send them on to the next part of their educational journey with words of encouragement, know that there are people that will always remember them and be cheering them on. For my 5th grade group of special education students, I would like to give each of them the book "Be You!" By Peter Reynolds. But before they receive their book each staff member will have a opportunity to write a memory or well wishes for the students future.
