These materials will help my students engage with texts that promote higher-level thinking and communication with their peers. Many of these texts will help create a sense of community for my after-school tabletop gaming club. This community of 20+ kids weekly gather to play games that encourage critical thinking and communication. These challenging projects range from chess to Dungeon and Dragons. Despite what they choose, they always find a way to challenge themselves. These books will help students explore their interests and develop as citizens in the local community. As they pursue daily reading in my class they will develop as writers and learners. I'm excited that they will have a broader selection of what to read and will be able to engage in self-paced learning. This learning will not only help them in their current life but help prepare them for the challenges and joys life has in store for them.
