My students love creating and making! Many of them didn't have the opportunity to create as children. They were busy caring for siblings, paying for the rent, or finding food and shelter. Many of my students are neurodivergent. It is incredibly therapeutic for them to use creativity, learn to plan, execute, and see the results of their efforts. Art helps them to let go of expectations and just create. It helps them develop executive motor function and to learn to be discriminating based on standards. The ability to create is fundamental to humans, but my students have never really gotten that opportunity. I am requesting a variety of maker project supplies such as mats, stamps, and painting materials.
