One of the saddest aspects of my job is learning that a student comes from a home situation that is far from ideal. Stress and frustration that they acquire at home is brought with them to school on an almost daily basis. Cases like this have risen exponentially since COVID-19 hit. When a student brings stress or frustration from home, it almost ALWAYS affects their academic and social learning at school in a negative way. With this project, I can create a calm and relaxing environment where students can go to get rid of their stress and frustration that may come from home, social situations, and the entire COVID-19 situation. This relaxation corner will be a blocked off section of the classroom where the lights will be dimmer, the seats comfortable, and the items inside will stimulate their senses to help them relax, destress, and feel safe.
