My 3rd graders especially love book clubs, where we all read the same book then have lunch in the classroom to discuss the book. This has been a very successful way to engage all students and teach them to love reading. The book club meeting has a short activity, and a snack. We ask questions and list our favorite parts of the book. Books that I've chosen in the past are part of a series, so that the students can continue reading a book if they really like it. It's been an awesome success and I look forward to having more book clubs in my classroom!
