In my classroom, I normally have about 30 student each period. As I am teaching, I make students show their work on a piece of paper, then I walk around and give as many students feedback as possible in the time I have given them. However, doing it this way is very time consuming and I only get around to a few students every time. If I were to have whiteboards and dry erase markers for every student, then I can have each student show their work, then lift it up for me to check quickly. The students that have it right, I will know immediately, then I can focus on those that have incorrect answers and help them understand what mistakes they've made. Additionally, kids normally like to write on whiteboards, just because it's fun, so this is a way I can get those students that don't normally participate, to join with the class. It changes up the monotony of taking notes, and helps students refocus because we have transitioned to something more interesting and something that they enjoy doing. The headphones will benefit my students because I post videos that go along with their assignment. I am frequently asked if I have any headphones so they can watch the video because they missed that class period they need to do the assignment for. Having headphones, I'll be able to have students watch AND listen to a video instead of just watching an explanation. I am constantly striving to find fun things to do in class, so if I have the resources I need, it's easy to make students feel like learning math can be fun.
