Many of my students missed out on in person kindergarten last year. They are lacking some key skills needed in their phonemic awareness. Most of them can recognize the main sounds of each letter, but some students don't know sounds past that. They are unable to recognize, remember and read other sound patterns, such as silent e, vowel teams, or digraphs. The materials I have requested will first help support their knowledge of the basic letter sound, then build up to the other sound patterns. As this will build up their decoding skills, they will then need more support in their reading comprehension skills. I have a few students who are way below grade level who need extra support which is why I also requested a few sets of magnetic boards that will help build up their cvc reading and spelling abilities.
