The largest item I am requesting is a computer monitor. With all of our lessons now being digital, I often have at least three different windows open on my laptop. I am constantly switching back and forth between grades, attendance, assignments, email, and Canvas. It gets especially difficult when I am trying to teach on Zoom while juggling back and forth between all the different windows I need to be on at the same time. It really slows down the flow of the virtual lesson! Having a monitor would be beneficial especially during virtual learning so that I can have my students' faces on one screen, and their assignment pulled up on the monitor. This way I could more easily manage the students while trying to teach and give instruction. A direct result of the pandemic has been a behavioral skill deficit and a lack of self-control; I want to help reteach and reward the students for their efforts to rebuild skills and self-control. To help with this, our school has a school-wide point system. Students can earn points for kindness, positive behavior, participation, and showing respect and responsibility. As we are trying to re-teach our students how to be effective students, I want to be able to reward them for their efforts. My goal is to build a classroom store that students can purchase items like toys and food treats using the points they have earned. Having the store on a rolling cart will make the rewards clearly visible for the students and can act as a visual reminder to work on their self-control and positive classroom behaviors. I have been asking the students what type of items they would like to see, and I have put them in my order.
