If my students can climb right inside learning through active instruction and utilize all their senses, their growth can be phenomenal! The items in my project are all linked to reading, spelling, and math from the beginning with letters and sounds, numbers, and ten-frames through a progression to letters and numbers applied in decodable books for students with dyslexia and math games. The students can experience spelling and reading with clay letter formation, buildable letter blocks, brightly scented pens, bubble pops with letters, and affixes and root word blocks. After the basic framework of decoding is laid, they can enjoy the experience of reading and be drawn into a good book with text at their reading level that is attention-grabbing. Math instruction, with the right materials, can feed the curious mind and be appealing and exciting to learn. My project includes the items I need to raise my math instruction to another level and continue to motivate my students to fall in love with math. Ten-frames, color-coded number lines, number pops, and base-ten blocks can all be used to teach basic math concepts interactively. These basics will be built upon with the same manipulatives and the addition of math games for review and growth. The additional materials requested in my project will be utilized to organize our room and create more interactive learning materials. Our classroom will be like entering a theme park filled with exuberance and learning!
