Many of our students are currently experiencing financial difficulties in their families and only have access to technology through the school's Chromebooks. While the Chromebooks are beneficial in the classroom setting, they are severely limited in the functionality for other counseling-related activities, such as testing for college classes, college applications, and career and interest inventories. Without these laptops, I have to choose between allowing students to use my laptop and having them go without access to these beneficial life planning tools. Allowing students to use my laptop means I have to stop my work and there is always the concern that they will access private information. Allowing them to go without isn't in my nature, so having these laptops will make sure we have more equitable access for all cadets.
