While we all tried hard to reach students and to help them succeed during the last two years of the pandemic, it is clear that my students really need one thing to help them grow both academically and emotionally: engagement with their learning and with each other. The pandemic isolated students from one another, but it also kept them from fully engaging and feeding their curiosity. Now that we are back in the classroom, students need exciting, inspiring lessons that ignite their curiosity and motivate them to create and connect. These supplies will help my students activate their curiosity and engage in hands-on projects that will build their sense of self-efficacy and self-esteem. Thermometers will help them to be scientists as they test for heat loss/transfer and attempt to design solutions that prevent it. They need headphones as they research, create videos and presentations, and listen to engaging texts. Craft supplies are needed for them to have opportunities to show their learning in unique ways. We'll also use these supplies to connect with our bodies and each other through outdoor play and team games. Thank you for supporting my goal to bring hands-on learning to my students!
