In my classroom we enjoy reading a variety of books together. The kids love classroom discussions to develop their love of reading. We are able to use our higer level thinking when we are reading different genres of literature. I have read 'Where the Red Fern Grows" but to give my students each a copy, so they opportunity to read it themselves would be amazing. I also chose class sets of "Fish in a Tree" to read together because it important for students to understand that we are all different and that is okay. The last set of classroom books I chose is "The Tiger Rising" that helps kids to learn to trust, and not lock things or feelings away. All thes books are great for developing each students social-emotional skills during this time of the impact of COVID-19 on my kids. My class enjoys working around the room when they are doing independent work and the Surf Portable lap desk gives my students another choice for seating. Kids enjoy having a choice in where they sit and how they do their work.
