String basses used in orchestras are very large and expensive instruments. Very, very few students are able to afford to have their own bass. Because of this, most schools provide basses for students to use. Our school owns four basses but they are old and have to have a lot of maintenance. Strings on these instruments should be replaced every few years and our basses have not had new strings for over 12 years. They are well past due but bass strings are expensive so we haven't been able to do it. We also have a couple of our bass cases that are in bad repair and need to be replaced so students can safely transport instruments to performances and home to practice. Thank you for your help!
