Our current library was built primarily on donations of used books. Thus the quality and age of our library collection need addressing. The current average age of our collection is over 10 years old. We have begun aggressively weeding books from as far back as the 1950s. We also have a lot of inexpensive paperback books that don't stand up as well during circulation. My goal is to provide hardbound, current titles that will foster imagination, strengthen character, and build my students as individuals and as members of a global community. Covid 19 has isolated our children and they need the resiliency that a good book can give them. Books can transport them to other worlds, can be therapeutic, and can teach empathy...a skill we all need in this day and age. I want to put those books into their hands.
