Right now, the counselor has the same hard chairs that are used in the classrooms. The chairs are not helpful when students are upset and crying about their emotions. Having a couch and comfy chair to come and relax and talk with the counselor will help ease the physical tension in their body. The calm and comfortable room will help them feel relaxed to discuss their issues, which is often hard for them to do. The storage containers will help organize and store coats for students in need and organize food and other hygiene items in our student food pantry. Meeting basic needs first will ultimately help the students' overall academic achievement. By creating this safe place, students and work on their mental health an learn to effectively deal with life's stress.
