I selected these tools to help my students get on track and help them after the effects that COVID-19 had on their learning. I selected decodable books so that my students can practice with me, in small groups or independently. I also selected some books that are not as decodable, but can be read together as a class to practice retention. I also chose some tools to help my students with organization and self independence in the classroom. I chose items like bins, dots and pocket charts to help my students be accountable. I have learned that in this Title 1 school and with COVID-19, that is a skill that these students need to develop. I want my project to help my students with literacy growth. I selected pockets for chairs that can be used to keep a collection of their own books that they can read when prompted or when they have extra time. I think this is important to have easy and quick access to books. Being at the school I am, school may be the only time they get to look at fun picture books and practice their reading. I really want to help my students be more fluent readers and after years of learning with COVID-19 I would love to give them these book resources. I chose many learning tools to help my students succeed in the classroom. A lot of my students do not have access to technology at home. Using technology in the classroom is hard when we do not have the tools. There are so many online programs and apps that can help my students get back on track after the effects of COVID-19 and by providing headphones for my students it will help them all be able to participate online.
