It is important for Black students to see themselves represented in history and centered in conversations. Most times, they are "othered" and disproportionately underrepresented in curriculum. These decorations will aid in the celebration of Black ingenuity and uplift Black voices. I plan to post the decor at the front of the school and give away the pencils to students as they come in the building, letting them know that this isn't just another month, but that the campus is making it important. Students need to know that their culture and its contributions are important.
