Our students live in a rural area and our school is small. We are trying to expand the options for our high schoolers and use what we have. Our students love being outside but do not know much about wildlife or careers in wildlife fields. We are trying to improve the quality and expand our wildlife biology class and include more hands-on and outdoor experiences. We would like to start having our students collect and prepare specimens for field study, lab study, and cultivation. Field experience will get our kids out of the building and out interacting with nature. Our school is unique in that we have wildlands right next to us we would like to have equipment to send students out to learn more about it. The nets and trays will be used to collect insect and plant samples for study and specimen preparation. The water quality kit will be used to study and monitor the river that runs right by our school. The other supplies will allow us to bring samples into the lab for specimen observations, preservations, and study. We are trying to create real and meaningful science experience to our students and give them insight into career options that would appeal to members of our small rural community.
