The school license for up to 200 students to access hundreds of audiobook titles is a great opportunity for my students. Many of my students struggle with reading comprehension and fluency. Some are so busy trying to decode the words that the love of reading is lost. They miss out on great characters, amazing plots, and lessons that are expressed and examined in literature. Access to these audio titles would allow students who work after school to listen to their books while accomplishing other tasks when appropriate as well as listen and follow along in a more focused atmosphere to improve their reading skills. I anticipate that the love for reading will increase exponentially as they experience the greatness of stories that help their imagination come to life. This would benefit ESL students, students with learning challenges, and students strapped for time to read in the traditional sense. We need readers who have access to the classics as well as contemporary titles that communicate themes that are timeless.
