During the COVID shut-down, many students were unable to experience the scientific method due to a lack of materials at home (and sometimes at school). These concepts are the foundation pieces to middle school and high school sciences; without them, the students do not have a basic understanding of what they need. We all know that kids and adults at all levels of understanding learn better when they are "doing," and The "Density Cube Set" from United Scientific and the "Moh's Hardness Scale collection" from Ward's Science will be used in my classroom experiments to help them physically interact with the concepts they are learning, such as Density and Hardness of Matter. Further, the experiments I have planned with these materials will give them personal experience with how dense/hard various materials are. In doing so, it will help them understand the key concepts from their curriculum that they will need in the future. Science experiments are a fun way of ensuring they grasp these essential standards of learning.
