These materials will make a huge impact on the home/school connection for my students. I will make take-home reading bags with learning games and readers for the students to check out. Attending a Title I school, my students come from homes with limited resources. With the take-home bags, the children can share in the learning process with their families. I have found that providing learning opportunities for the families of my students is an important key to their learning. When families are given the tools, they step up and become an important part of the learning process. Developing this learning cycle in kindergarten helps to show families how they can continue to help their kids as they get older. One of the fun activities will use highlighters and black lights. This is just one of the fun ways to make learning something for the 100th time more exciting. I can't wait for my kids to show their families how learning is fun! I have also requested new headphones. We are required to have our students use Chromebooks for a literacy and math program, Imagine Learning. Since kindergarten was the last grade to get Chromebooks, we have a mismatched assortment of old headphones. I spend a lot of time every day trying to troubleshoot headphones that aren't working. It would be nice to have a class set that is reliable.
