Our students have spent the last few years reading and working from home due to COVID-19. The items I have selected will help me create reading centers where the kids can go on reading adventures together instead of independently. The class sets of the two novels James and the Giant Peach and My Side of the Mountain, will help my students to be able to discover how their own experience relates to the stories we read and to the people around them. These supplies and rolling carts will help me create small reading groups where my students can work with peers who are on the same academic level, encouraging growth while feeling successful. Smaller groups will also give me, as the teacher, time to work with individual students who may need extra support.
