I am currently the academic RTI director for American Academy of Innovation. A large portion of my job is addressing student needs in areas where they need more academic support. While we have students that are motivated, hard-working and intelligent, school work does not always have priority. My job is to guide students on prioritizing their assignments and help them remedy any skills or content that they are missing or need additional support with. COVID 19 has left many of our students behind in school. Many students have missed out on valuable lessons and content, and they are doing their best to catch up, but need help. There are many others who feel unmotivated and discouraged. My job is to help students in these situations and provide them the tools they need to catch up. The time out of school and distance learning has affected the student's abilities to stay organized and function well in the school setting. I want to help students cultivate the skills to stay organized in school and prepare them for future settings where they will need these skills. I am hopeful that this will also show them they are capable fo doing well in school. My goal with this project is to provide students with organizational materials to help them build the skills of prioritizing their schoolwork. I feel this will help them feel confident in school. These skills will also help them be successful in their future education endeavors, jobs, and careers. Due to the lack of funding, I do not have the supplies to help organize these students with folders, planners, and the necessary tools to teach them the skills they need most. With your help, I can gift my students the supplies they need to get back on track.
