Students need tools to help them cope with the struggles they are going through. In this difficult time of high stress and anxiety, providing a safe space for students is vital. I have a calming jar in my classroom now and they all want a turn to use it, having one for each desk in my classroom would give every student the opportunity to help regulate their emotions. As they shake it and watch the glitter settle they feel more calm and focused on the current task at hand. It also is used during our class meditation time as we prepare to learn and put ourselves in the best mindset to learn.
