My students are eager to build coping skills that will help them work through the hardships that come from going to school during a pandemic. Literature circles are a great way to build relationships with peers and connect through literature and life. The books I am requesting will help students see other perspectives, the whiteboards will help them process their thinking connected to the books, and the yardsticks are essential to team building activities within these literature circles. These books will help them process their own feelings through writing, collaboration, creativity, critical thinking, and character growth. These 21st Century Skills are essential to students as they become learners in school and in life. The social and emotional learning that comes from reading perspectives different from their own will ensure they become better equipped to deal with challenges and become better people.
