I have found that board games are a wonderful way to create student engagement, while also enhancing social skills and breaking down barriers. Often times, when I may be having trouble connecting with a student, I will offer to play a game of Uno or Jenga or Sorry with them. This give us an opportunity to connect and laugh together in a non-threatening way. These games create opportunities for communication, not only with me as the social worker, but with other students. I am asking for additional games that we can use in the school setting with individuals and small groups to help promote and foster further engagement. The sound machine and the lights will be used to enhance our gathering space to a create soothing and calm environment. Thank you for your consideration.
