All of the materials I have requested will be used as supplemental learning tools for my students. The model human skull will be used in my biology class for anatomical comparisons. I will also use the skull to help demonstrate some genetics and evolution concepts, as well as forensics.
Most of the other materials I have requested will be specifically for my forensics class as a way to give students hands on and real world application of concepts that they have previously learned in biology and chemistry. The fingerprint analysis kit use some of the same tools that real life forensic scientists use, and this kit will last for a long time (as opposed to lab activities that are one time use only). The crime scene supply pack will enable students to complete "crime scene" investigations from scratch and will be a fun and engaging activity, as well as a good project and/or assessment tool for me. The hair analysis kit is similar to the fingerprinting kit in that it will last a long time and give students more real world and hands on experience. The blood typing poster will be a supplement to those students who never learned (or forgot) about blood types as they work through blood analysis.
The scissors and tape will be classroom sets that allow students their own sets and won't have to share. This will help the projects in biology, chemistry, and forensics where students are creating posters, diagrams, charts or graphs that requires cutting be more efficient and participatory.
The ethernet adaptor and cable are to be able to plug in directly to the internet rather than relying on the unreliable WiFi when showing educational clips to my students.
