Each day students are expected to use pencils, scissors, crayons, dry eraser marker, and so many more writing utensils. I have notice that many of my students lack the finger strengthen and dexterity for writing. Since the Covid-19 shut down students are coming in with little to no preschool experiences as families have chosen to keep their students home. Putting them behind even more. By donating to my project you will help my students who entered kindergarten without even knowing how to hold a pencil or cut with scissors to gain the confidence to complete simple tasks that they would not be able to do otherwise. These skills are essential as a student and if not mastered can hold back a child's confidence in other learning tasks. Using the games I would like to purchase, students will practice writing, cutting and strengthen their fingers with a variety of different tools. The products I have selected will help to enhance their fine motor skills by using pincher grasp tools while sorting, magnetic puzzle boards to practice dexterity, molding shapes out of playdough, and manipulate rubber bands into new shapes, letters and numbers on a geoboard. I will use the storage pouches to keep the items separated so that germs are not shared. Giving students the opportunity to use a variety of tools to practice writing provides them a fun and easy way to build their finger strength for future writing and art projects.
