Response to individual student social, emotional, and mental well-being occurs in the counseling center on a daily basis. We're seeing more students experiencing negative effects from the stress, isolation, uncertainty, and financial challenges caused by Covid-19. As a result, many students need help working through panic attacks, unmanageable anxiety, loss of motivation, and social problems. These issues are affecting students' ability to be successful in school and in other aspects of their lives. It is important that we have a relaxing and calming area for students in the counseling center, and it is important that we have materials and resources to help them work through their individual concerns. Items such as the diffuser, zen sandbox, water fountain, cricut machine, books, pencils, and toys will be used to create a comfortable, inviting, and relaxing space for students working through challenging situations in the counseling center. Counselors will also teach healthy habits and coping skills to deal with common social, emotional, and mental challenges in a small group setting. The speaker, apple tv, books, and materials will be used to in these small groups.
