With these beeswax crayons in our art room, the grade 1-5 students and I will practice guided drawing of common objects, animals and people to expand the range and quality of what they can draw. Students can later apply these acquired skills to their own drawings. We will also illustrate a scene from various, favorite children's books that I read to them. Beginning with the 1st grade students, I will guide the careful, correct drawing of letters and sentences paired with matching illustrations on the opposite page. This will support their learning of handwriting, reading, and spelling. The reasons that these crayons are so important is that working with them is almost like painting. The beeswax smells good and the thin petroleum/paraffin wax crayons smell bad and break too easily.
