All students will benefit from manipulatives during class and before school begins. Manipulatives and magnetic building blocks allow students to play and practice their social skills. The Manipulatives help develop fine motor skills and help connect the abstract to the concrete. Manipulatives are a great tool for those that have a hard time focusing in class. I already have an alphabetic arc but I do not have letter tiles to use with the arc. These letter tiles will help students who have a hard time focusing because they are playing as they are learning. Students will place the letter tiles in the correct order on the arc to help them connect the letter symbol to the alphabet and help them with the sequence of the alphabet. Magnetic pattern blocks and the magnetic building blocks will help my students connect our math standard of geometry by composing simple shapes to form larger shapes (K.G.6). Often times my aide and my parent volunteer are sick due to COVID and my students do not have a center during their tier 2 time. By having a listening center these students can listen to a story and practice comprehension questions. They can also listen to other stories that I have in my classroom without interfering with other students centers.
