The items in this project will help our students improve their phonics and decoding skills. Phonics skills help our students connect letters and sounds. Once students know the sounds of each consonant and vowel, they begin decoding words like "cat," or CVC words. Emerging readers need access to letter sounds, blends, digraphs, and vowel teams in order to expand their decoding skills. These resources will help our students gain confidence in their foundational reading skills. In order to ensure all emerging readers benefit from this project, activities will be stored in a common area accessible to all teachers at my school.
