Most of my students come from a variety of cultural and backgrounds and their economic circumstances range from disadvantaged to low-middle class. All of my students have learning disabilities, which makes it difficult for them to succeed academically. Because I service a wide range of grade-levels, it is difficult to have quick and easy access to books on each student’s instructional level. Reading is a common area of difficulty for my students. Because of this my proposal would be to create and enhance a library of low-leveled readers in the Resource classroom to give students more opportunities to practice reading text on their instructional level and to help build their fluency. Due to COVID-19 a lot of my students have fallen even further behind. Having a class library would allow my students to read more at school and have books to check out to take home.
