I am raising these funds to purchase a class set of books for our next STEM and literacy unit. The book "The Mighty Mars Rovers: The Incredible Adventures of Spirit and Opportunity" is the anchor text for our integrated unit. Through this engaging text and full-color photographs, the students will learn about the incredible process of designing and landing the Spirit and Opportunity rovers on Mars. By combining this text with NASA press releases about the same events, the students will learn to compare and contrast the point of view of different texts while synthesizing information from multiple sources. While learning about these topics through reading, writing, speaking, and listening, the students will also participate in engineering and design labs and scientific investigations to build their understanding of space and the complexity of space exploration. My students will dive into this learning with enthusiasm, but we need these books to make it happen!
