Many of my students lack the social skills to navigate the tricky world of becoming teenager. Students have the opportunity to figure out who they are and how to be their true selves without fear of judgement. We not only provide books for our students but we also provide a Maker Space Why is a Maker Space Important? It is a place where they can check out building supplies (Legos, K'Nex, Kiva Planks) and build to their hearts content (or until the bell rings). It is a place where they can check out games (chess, Rubik's cubes, Giant Uno, and Jenga) and find new friends to play with them. It is a place where they can try new technology (Silhouette, Sublimation Printer, 3D pens) and create something new and memorable. It is a place where students can learn, create, try, explore, and grow. And it all takes place during lunch. This grant would enhance our already successful Maker Space. It would give more students the opportunity to participate and give them new technology.
