Our 6-8th math classroom needs several large wall-mounted whiteboards for student use. My students participate in a "problem-based thinking classroom" where students are expected to "think" rather than simply "mimick" the teacher. Students are challenged daily with a fun engaging math problem to work on. They use dry-erase markers and whiteboards to draw, model, and test their ideas. The whiteboards allow students to brainstorm, graph, do calculations, and try new things. Students work in groups and use high-level cognitive skills to solve the problem. They justify their own ideas and consider the ideas of others. Rather than just being told how to do math, they are discovering mathematic concepts as they simultaneously apply them!
