Technology is a key ingredient in helping my students access the core curriculum and giving them the support they need. Using an Apple TV and ipad I will be able to sit next to a student who needs extra support while still giving instruction to the class as a whole. Sometimes I feel like I need to clone myself to meet student needs and this technology gives me a way to do two things at once! As a special education teacher, I help my students learn how to learn and technology is both as an instructional tool and a means or reinforcing academic skills and appropriate behavior. Several of my students use an iPad as an AAC communication device. Using the ipad to communicate has given these students a "voice" and allowed them to be part of classroom conversations. Having an additional ipad in the classroom will allow students to use both communication and learning apps. The learning apps are a great way to reinforce academic skills, appropriate behavior and student effort while keeping them learning in a fun and different way.
