Reading is the single most important accomplishment a second grader will achieve this year in school. It sets the foundation for their success for their whole school career. However, reading in the beginning years is difficult and not always fun. That is until a student picks a book of his or her choosing to read with a friend. My Own Book Club is designed to make reading fun! Students get to choose the book they wish to read. They get to sit with their buddies, read together and talk about what they read. Before they know it, they read their first chapter book and are ready to read another. Then I tell them, "Guess what? You are a reader!"
