This project and the products I have selected will allow my students the chance to have their own classroom set of headphones and hands-on manipulative, lessening the chance of transmission of COVID-19. We use our headphones daily during my literacy class for our computer-based small group center time. Currently, we are sharing with two other second-grade classrooms and half of our students no longer have working headphones. The hands-on manipulative items will allow my students a visual representation of what we are learning without having to share with another class. I have found that the manipulatives make for a great educational alternative when outdoor recess is not an option due to weather or poor air quality. In both my literacy class and in my math class we use personal whiteboards to help my students visualize the way to work through spelling rules or math problems.
