While using the fabric, glue guns, and other materials my students will learn how to create an engineering project and have a hands-on experience. Students will start with a story, Finding Winnie. The real story of Winnie the Pooh is about a boy who finds a way to use his stuffed bear to represent a real bear. Students will then engage in an engineering process of exploring what things have special meaning to them. They will then design a pattern for this item. We will take the process further by physically creating their design. Students will then engage in a writing experience featuring their very own creation.
