One way that these materials will directly relate to helping my students is by reaching and meeting their interests. I strongly believe that for students who are struggling to read or understand a concept if they have interest in what they are doing/reading they are going to be more excited to do it or work on it on their own without being forced. My class loves current events and monumental events in history. We are always looking at maps and learning about where and when things happened. Many of these books and magazines are going to meet those interests, helping increase their knowledge, vocabulary, and desire to read more. The STEM building supply items are multi-functional and will help cover math, science, and STEM lessons in a hands-on way. As cliche as it sounds, those supplies help make learning fun and when the students are having fun, they sometimes don't realize how hard they are working. These students are lacking in some fundamental concepts and I want/need things that they are excited to do to help them practice a variety of skills.
