One of the very best things I have seen is the use of Monopoly to help teach the Great Depression and banking ideals of America. Since I teach US History, and I love this time period, it just made sense to get some games for my room. Besides, learning from a textbook is one thing. Learning from a game is the best!
By helping us get these supplies, you are making our Great Depression learning and classroom projects more fun. Because of limited funding, we have been unable to complete projects that are fun and increase learning. I plan to use the Monopoly games and supplies for a week-long lesson about the Great Depression, banking systems, and how Americans survived that time period. The culminating project will be a short essay about one of the topics we cover. Because of Covid-19 and other problems we have faced the last couple of years, there have been some very serious learning losses. These have led to tired teachers and sad students. How better to increase learning and excitement for school than by using a game to teach?
